The Director of Sales and Commodity Management is a new role for the company and will report to the CEO. You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities related to sales management, customer service, and commodity management. Below is an outline of critical responsibilities:
- Lead our sales team to meet or exceed growth expectations for both Retail and Foodservice.
- Assure sales team is achieving exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Manage customer relationships and close deals.
- Ability to leverage existing relationships to generate new business and expand distribution.
- Expertise in managing Salinas crops such as lettuce, romaine, iceberg, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, and more.
- Manage contract pricing for commodities.
- Responsible for daily internal and external communications of crop pricing, availability, and quality.
- Work to continuously improve our commodity programs to achieve “best in class”.
- Strong understanding of produce logistics.
- Strong analytical and Scorecarding ability.
- Ability to collaborate throughout the organization and continuously improve.
- Help identify opportunities among existing accounts and grow the bandwidth of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience combined in sales leadership and commodity management.
- Proven experience in sales and commodity management in the Salinas Valley.
Skills:
- Both sales and sales management expertise,
- Strong commodity management skills.
- Strong understanding of produce logistics.
- Strong collaboration ability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Understating of supply chain management
- Strong customer relationships
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Approximately 80% of the time performing the job will be in an indoor office environment
- Approximately 20% of the time performing the job will involve travel to customers throughout the United States and/or involve field visits in Salinas, Yuma, or Mexico.
- High use of communication either through the telephone or one-on-one communication
- The noise level in the office is low, with temperature levels between 65 and 80 degrees.
- Maybe required to lift to 10 lbs. Bending, stooping, reaching all a probability.
