Job Description: 

Position Summary

The Vice President, Value Added Operations is responsible for developing and operating all value-added operations across multiple locations in a manner that is economically successful, strategically oriented, and technically innovative for Duda Farm Fresh Foods. This role encompasses both Western and Eastern Operations, as well as any additional sites within the company's portfolio.

The Vice President, Value Added Operations will manage the financial activities of these operations, including budget preparation, capital purchases, project management, and efficient expense control. Utilizing manufacturing, organizational, and leadership skills, this position aims to deliver maximum product yield and quality results at the optimum cost, aligning with Duda’s business and supply objectives and long-term growth goals. Additionally, the Vice President, Value Added Operations will identify and drive the strategic expansion of value-added opportunities to enhance the company's market presence and profitability.

The Vice President, Value Added Operations will lead and manage a staff of approximately 800+ employees across Duda Farm Fresh Foods' national value-added operations.

Job Responsibilities
 

  1. Driving superior value-added performance and creates a culture of continuous improvement. Works with current and existing customers to develop an environment of mutual trust and understanding, establishing Duda as the supplier of choice for manufacturing and packaging. 
  2. Develops and implements effective supply chain management programs linking procurement, processing, packaging, and distribution into a seamless process and ensuring that adequate programs are in place in all disciplines to ensure maximum efficiency. Works with Sales, Production and Harvesting teams to match sales demand with supply.
  3. Provides directions to the Maintenance Manager to provide superior service to production teams; including cost, quality and service.
  4. Partners with the Food Safety Management team to ensure compliance with all company GMP's, local, state and federal regulatory agencies; organic certifying organizations and thirds party certifying agencies.
  5. Partners with Quality Assurance to manage systems and procedures to support quality control in all areas of the operation.
  6. Partners with Human Resources in Oxnard and Belle Glade to create and implement labor strategies for the Plant. Responsible for Environmental Health & Human safety of approximately 550 employees at the fresh cut facility. 
  7. Works with VP, National Operations and General Manager, Eastern Operations, to develop capital improvement projects to increase efficiency, throughput, reduce cost and increase profitability of the value-added facilities. Provides technical expertise in the areas of food processing, design and manufacturing.
  8. Creates and manages facility design changes and equipment upgrade activities. Manages the bid process for significant work and construction projects. Negotiate leases, service and materials contracts. Manages facility construction and equipment expansion projects.
  9. Supports VP, National Operations and other senior leadership on strategic planning. Reviews monthly budget reports to explain variances. Works closely with production, harvesting and sales teams to close negative variances.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

 

Formal Education Bachelor's Degree

Experience More than 10 years

License Valid CA Driver's License

Minimum Knowledge Requires advanced knowledge of principles and practices within a professional field or recognized body of formal knowledge. May develop new policies and procedures. May require highly complex conceptual thinking.

Teamwork This job serves as a team leader of a formal team across divisions. Has responsibility and accountability for team activities.


Guidance Projects are assigned with considerable latitude for decision-making and setting of priorities. Work may be periodically reviewed according to achievement of predefined goals.
