Green Life Farms, a fast-growing grower-packer-shipper in the fresh produce business, is looking for a motivated and driven Sales & Business Development Professional to join their expanding team. With operations in Salinas, Oxnard, Yuma, the Imperial Valley and Mexico, they cultivate over 5,000 acres of wet veg and watermelons. They offer more than 20 varieties of produce year-round and ship both domestic US, Canada and exports. Their vertically integrated model, coupled with multiple shipping points in California and Arizona, ensures a safe and reliable supply of high-quality products to many retail, foodservice and wholesalers across the country.

The Sales & Business Development Professional is on the FOB sales desk. This role offers a special opportunity to make a significant impact by expanding Green Life Farms’ market presence and driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate will be a true "hunter"—someone who excels at identifying new business opportunities, while managing and growing existing accounts. Responsibilities:
Sales & Account Management:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts through strategic planning, effective communication and a deep understanding of customer needs.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase market share.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and foodservice companies, and decision makers to elevate business potential
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to meet sales targets and maximize profitability.
  • Stay current on industry trends and competitor activity

Business Development:

  • Identify emerging market trends, customer needs, and opportunities for product innovation.
  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to target new markets and customer segments.
  • Build relationships with growers and suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality produce.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Operations, and Logistics) to support product launches and promotions.
  • Analyze sales performance and market conditions to identify growth opportunities

Customer Service & Problem Solving:

  • Provide exceptional service and support to clients, addressing any issues or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with logistics and operations teams to ensure efficient product delivery and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in fresh produce sales, business development, or a similar role.
  • Possesses a well-established network of contacts within the produce industry, including retailers, wholesalers, food service, and other key players, with a deep understanding of customer dynamics and the complexities of doing business with each.
  • A self-starter with the ability to hit the ground running.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong knowledge of fresh produce supply chains, pricing, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • High integrity and dedicated work ethic with the ability to make swift decisions and take proactive action.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Knowledge of and experience with wet veg strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • In office commitment, not a hybrid or remote role.
