Fruit Growers Supply Company is an agricultural supply cooperative company that was established in 1907 by the Sunkist Growers. We are the oldest non-profit supply cooperative in the nation, and we have grown at record pace alongside the West Coast’s citrus production. Although we were created exclusively to help Sunkist, today we can help everyone in agriculture. We aren't just citrus either; we've also achieved an incredibly high level of satisfaction with growers and packers in commodities such as stone fruit, avocados, nuts, grapes, and row crops.

The Business Development Manager will drive business growth and market expansion in the agriculture arena. Committed to identifying opportunities for additional business opportunities, developing partnerships, and negotiating deals that contribute to additional revenue and expanded sales growth within the Fruit Growers Supply business units, working closely with the Procurement, Retail store staffs and Irrigation sales members. 

This position will work with the business unit leaders to identify sales opportunities for growth and improvement, targeting various types: packinghouses, farming institutes, agricultural growers, farm labor management companies, etc.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current client relationships and identify areas for new business growth in shipping materials, orchard maintenance, harvesting supplies, PH sanitization supplies, etc.
  • Contact potential clients to establish a business relationship and regular meeting cadence.
  • Target previous growers and to gain back business.
  • Develop new sales areas and improve sales through various methods.
  • Research various aspects of CA Agriculture including new/existing crops and identify new opportunities.
  • Obtain a strong understanding of company products, business unit services and competition to keep our business competitive.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and planning processes as required.
  • Assist with goal setting to align with Retail, Irrigation and Pallets
  • Track sales opportunities, accomplishments, and conversion in CRM system.

Minimum Educational and Experience Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or any Agriculture related business field
  • 7-10 years’ experience working in the agriculture arena, a packinghouse or in a sales management role.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and competency in communicating at an executive level.
  • The BD Manager must demonstrate analytical skills with the ability to outline actionable strategies and perform market analysis.
  • Experience with a CRM system a plus; Salesforce being the preferred system.
  • Bi-lingual; Spanish speaking preferred.
