The Produce Buyer maintains appropriate service levels for produce products while balancing service level requirements with inventory management objectives. Based on prior order history, the incumbent will determine order quantities, process new purchase orders and amend generated orders to meet requirements. The Produce Buyer’s decisions are subject to market conditions, pricing, and availability. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving orders and proper delivery to distribution centers and stores, and managing and supporting banner promotional plans and excess inventory levels. The Produce Buyer will be responsible for negotiating and managing costs of goods. Maintains inventory tracking reports and service exceptions, and inputs/orders new items in accordance with category and item management requirements.

- Work Experience: Minimum of five years related experience
- Knowledge of: Produce seasonality, Supply Chain functions, policies and procedures.
- Grocery retail operations specific to produce buying preferred.
- Pre-employment drug screen required
- Two-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, and/or additional job experience).
- Basic computer skills (Excel and Word)
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond timely to urgent matters.
