Job Description: 

Nestled in the heart of the Central San Joaquin Valley, Family Tree Farms takes pride in being one of the largest family-owned farming operations where we grow, pack and ship more than 98 million pounds of the most flavorful stone fruit and blueberries in California, Mexico, and Peru.

We are seeking a Senior Grower Accountant to join our team in Reedley, CA.

The accountant will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks, across multiple farming companies, including cost accounting, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, cashflow management, accounts payable/receivable.

Cost Accounting:

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting in Famous Software to ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Analyze costs, labor, and overhead to provide detailed cost reports and variance analysis against budgets.

Inter-Companies:

  • Responsible for development and monitoring accounting transactions in multiple companies.
  • Analyze and process grower settlements within inter-companies.
  • Research any discrepancies between inter-company transactions and ensure they balance.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
  • Assist in preparing annual financial statements.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in preparing management reports and financial summaries as needed.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Review accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage cash flow by monitoring outstanding receivables and payables.

Compliance/Tax Support:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting functions.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in classifying, examining, and analyzing transactions.
  • Collaborate with Controller and Senior Management to minimize tax exposure.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with cost accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Famous Software preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Approximately 100% of the time performing the job will be in an indoor office environment, most of that time spent sitting at a desk in front of a computer monitor.
  • High use of communication either through the telephone or one-on-one communication.
  • The noise level in the office is low, with temperature levels between 65 and 80 degrees.
  • May be required to lift to10 lbs. Bending, stooping, reaching are all a probability.
