We are seeking a Food Safety Facility Manager to join our team in Edinburg, Texas. We are looking to fill this role ASAP.
PRIMARY PURPOSE - Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment for employees; ensuring facility and regulatory compliance with all County, State, Federal, and company regulations and standards; ensuring compliance with food safety initiatives, GAP, and GMP; and providing technical expertise, training, and support for Facility operations. This role involves overseeing food safety and quality assurance processes, and leading a team dedicated to maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for produce handling and distribution.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Compliance Management:
- Ensure the facility complies with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, USDA).
- Stay updated with changes in food safety laws and regulations and adjust practices accordingly.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
Food Safety Programs:
- Develop, implement, and monitor food safety and quality assurance programs, including HACCP, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and sanitation procedures.
- Conduct regular food safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Implement corrective actions and preventive measures for any identified food safety issues.
Training and Development:
- Train and educate staff on food safety practices, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure all employees are certified in food safety and maintain ongoing training records.
Sanitation and Hygiene:
- Oversee cleaning and sanitation processes for equipment, facilities, and produce handling areas.
- Monitor and ensure proper use of cleaning agents and sanitizers.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess the effectiveness of sanitation practices.
Incident Management:
- Investigate and manage food safety incidents, including contamination, recalls, and non-compliance issues.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies during incident resolution.
Temperature and Environmental Control:
- Monitor and control temperature and environmental conditions for produce storage and handling.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of temperature monitoring equipment.
Pest Control:
- Develop and oversee pest control programs to prevent contamination.
- Collaborate with pest control contractors to address and resolve pest issues.
Inventory and Waste Management:
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of produce inventory.
- Oversee waste management practices, including the disposal of spoiled or contaminated produce.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of food safety inspections, training, audits, and incident reports.
- Prepare and submit reports as required by regulatory agencies and company management.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and manage food safety staff, including assigning tasks and conducting performance reviews.
- Foster a culture of food safety awareness and continuous improvement within the team.
Other:
- Follow all safety procedures/guidelines and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Report employee accidents, safety hazards, equipment issues, and quality issues promptly.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) as needed.
