Job Description: 

We're growing our Business Development team and actively seeking an exceptional sales leader. If you're an experienced salesperson in the produce industry with a proven track record of acquiring new foodservice and retail accounts, we'd like to chat with you.

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for representing River Fresh Farms in the development of new customers and in the expansion of existing market share.  Below is an outline of critical responsibilities:

  • Develop new retail, wholesale, and foodservice customer relationships and close deals.
  • Leverage your existing relationships to generate new business and expand distribution.
  • Manage customer relationships to expand the business and assure excellent service.
  • Sell in promotions and offer deals to customers as necessary to expand sales and move inventory.
  • Be the product expert and solution provider for your customers.
  • Travel to visit customers, attend trade shows, and industry events as needed to expand the business.
  • Analyze customer data and scorecards to make decisions and advise customers.
  • Oversee produce logistics for customers as needed.
  • Fosters and works to maintain entrepreneurial growth throughout the company and across sales team.
  • Researches and identifies new markets for new opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in both sales and business development.
  • Proven experience in sales and business development with existing customer relationships.
  • Experienced in Salinas row crops preferred.

Skills:

  • Sales expert with strong history in business development.
  • Excellent presentation and relationship skills.
  • Have a strong consultative sales ability and understanding of customer pain points.
  • Can excel in a collaborative team selling environment.
  • Ability to problem solve with customers and create win-win solutions.
  • Strong produce category management expertise.
  • Strong analytical and Scorecarding ability.
  • A passion for continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Location:

  • Salinas office or remote

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Approximately 65% of the time performing the job will be in an indoor office or home environment.
  • Approximately 35% of the time performing the job will involve travel.
  • High use of communication either through the telephone or one-on-one communication
  • The noise level in the RFF office is low, with temperature levels between 65 and 80 degrees.
  • Maybe required to lift to 10 lbs. Bending, stooping, reaching all a probability.
