Key Responsibilities:
- Strategically place purchase orders with vendors, considering seasonal fluctuations and market dynamics to minimize spoilage and shortages.
- Source fresh produce both locally and internationally, ensuring a diverse and robust inventory.
- Collaborate closely with the production team to align buying strategies with company objectives and customer demands.
- Own the Purchase-to-Pay process, from PO creation to vendor confirmation and payment coordination.
- Provide valuable market insights to our sales department, enabling informed decision-making and facilitating sales growth.
- Cultivate strong relationships with vendors and growers to negotiate favorable terms and drive cost savings.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, representing SunFed with integrity and professionalism in the industry.
- A proven track record of performance as a produce buyer for at least 7 years with extensive market knowledge and successful experience negotiating with suppliers.
- Ability to source fresh produce in multiple growing regions year-round.
- Clear and concise communication skills with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to clearly present information to internal and external contacts.
- Strong financial analysis skills to develop budgets, cost standards, and performance metrics.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Strong software and systems skills including working with data to create complex spreadsheets and presentations.
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred.
