Job Description: 

This is a full-time on-site role for an Account Manager at our Anaheim, CA facility. This position is accountable for fostering and strengthening relationships with existing accounts, customers, vendors, suppliers, growers, etc. while establishing and developing new relationships with prospectives alike to drive and achieve annual sales goals by increasing the volume sold. May be responsible for acting as a commodity manager for targeted commodities, managing the strategy and growth of those commodity classes across all buyers and business.

Additional compensatory and fringe benefits may be available dependent on experience. This position is eligible for our annual bonus program.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Initiate sales process by building relationships, identifying potential in accounts by studying current business, interviewing key customer personnel and organizational personnel who have worked with customer, identifying and evaluating additional needs, analyzing opportunities to add value
  • Develops sales by scheduling appointments/meetings for initial presentation, explaining and introducing product(s) and services, service enhancements and additions, successfully overcoming objections
  • Meets or exceeds established organizational sales and margin objectives, through sales growth, customer retention, new business prospecting and closing
  • Increases profitability by minimizing losses through selling inventory quickly, urgently handling arrival issues with clients, replacing troubled product and getting the best return for the organization
  • Remain competitive by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques sharing insights and collaborating with the team
  • Expands job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Establish and build strong working relationships with internal teams such as Production, Shipping, Receiving, etc. to ensure successful customer service to your accounts, satisfactory completion of orders and prompt follow-up regarding complaints or problems
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of each customer’s business, evaluating current product results, identifying needs to be filled, monitoring competitive products, analyzing and relaying customer reactions
  • Generate a sales plan working with internal Management to develop viable strategies to grow the account to meet or exceed customer expectations, strategically up-selling and cross-selling, regularly leading scheduled business reviews and relationship building meetings exploring opportunities to add value
  • Address customer complaints by investigating problems, identifying root causes, developing solutions, documenting preferences and requirements and making recommendations to management to ensure expectations are met with a focus on improving the customer experience and understanding changing needs
  • Communicating with clients by phone, email, text, video conferencing and/or in person to ensure their needs are understood and addressed promoting positive long-term client relationships
  • Travel as needed to conduct sales calls, grower visits, distributor tours, etc. and/or represent the organization pridefully at industry trade shows/events or similar external events
  • Understands they are a representative of the company and conducts themselves in a professional, ethical and respectful manner to enhance the organizations reputation
  • Adheres to Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA) guidelines regarding business practices. Completes and understands the online PACA training class bi-annually or as required
Requirements: 

Minimum 5 years of experience in sales and account management. Additional experience in replenishment buying, retail grocery management, operations, and/or supply chain should be noted. Produce, perishable product and/or similar industry experience a plus. Existing book of business with retail, strategic distributors and/or food service industry preferred. 

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year accredited college or university. Position experience may be substituted to meet the educational requirements using a 2:1 ratio where 2 years’ experience equals 1-year education.
