JOB SUMMARY:
The R&D Technician will be responsible for assisting in scoping and implementing R&D trials in all areas from procedural practices to automation in citrus, kiwi, and table grapes. The R&D Technician will also be responsible for maintaining detailed and accurate records of the trials as well as helping establish standard operation procedures for the farming team. Additionally, the R&D technician will assist in evaluating the data collected (and performing statistical analysis, as needed) from the trials and producing documents which clearly present the results to the user community within Sun Pacific.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The R&D Technician will directly report to and work under the supervision of the company’s Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the scoping and designing of all R&D trials;
- Coordinating with farm managers, R&D committee, and contractors to execute trials;
- Completing and/or oversee the collection of all data;
- Ensuring that trial timelines are being followed and maintain progress reports;
- Running statistical analysis on trial results;
- Assisting with the completion of trial summaries and presentations;
- Assisting in the determination and implantation of best practices and procedures;
- Helping clean up past R&D trial results;
- Assisting in overseeing the maintenance of irrigation and fertilizer equipment across the company;
- Spending adequate time in the field to ensure that trials are implemented properly; and,
- All other tasks, projects, duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Company and/or the Operations Manager.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with statistical analysis;
- Experience with commercial citrus/kiwi/grape production;
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental resources, water resources, or agricultural field of study, or equivalent experience;
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software, techniques, and functionalities quickly and efficiently;
- Intermediate computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite with heavy emphasis in Excel and ARC-GIS;
- High degree of organizational skills and diligence in record keep and electronic file management; and
- Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIIES:
- Detailed understanding of the research process;
- Proficiency in app-based navigation and programs;
- Intermediate skill in Microsoft Excel;
- Intermediate skill in Microsoft Office;
- Attention to detail and a deep understanding of methods to ensure data integrity;
- Effective reporting and communication skills; and,
- Ability to prioritize, adapt and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment.
COMPENSATION:
- Annual compensation offered is $68,640, DOE
