SUMMARY:
The Assistant Farm Manager will help evaluate, plan, organize, and manage all farming
operations. The Assistant Farm Manager will provide leadership and coordination of general farming
administration and planning of our continued development and eventual farming of assigned acreage for
lemons, navals and mandarins.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Assistant Farm Manager will report directly to the Farm Manager. The
Farming Supervisors will report directly to the Assistant Farm Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are essential duties and responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, develop and manage farming personnel
- Recruit and manage quality and effective farm labor contracting services for farming operations
- Assist with strategic and operational planning
- Oversee the continued planting and development of assigned acreage for lemons, navals and mandarins
- Direct all activities necessary to operate and support our farms at maximum efficiency
- Direct and coordinate farm development, irrigation, application/pest management, pruning, harvesting, and training to maximize premium quality and yield of crop; effectiveness and efficiency of employees and farm labor contractor services within established budgets
- Contribute towards profitability and growth of the Company
- Work with other departments and outside services to optimize farming operations
- Manage chemical applications as prescribed by PCA
- Manage maintenance, repair, and replacement of all farming structures, equipment, and supplies
- Manage harvest intervals with packing house interaction
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal ordinances, regulations, and applicable laws; and, ensure employment practices and policies, including food safety and employee safety protocols are enforced and abided by you and your supervisory team at all times
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years experience with planning, farming, harvesting, and post-harvest crop management
- High School Diploma and experience in agriculture; and, Possession of a CDL and an acceptable driving record insurable by the Company’s insurance policy
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge in food safety, HACCP, GMPs and related protocols
- Ability to effectively positiviely lead, motivate, and communicate to employees in English and Spanish
- Effective and proficient data/spreadsheet analysis, reporting, and communication skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities and tasks; and, Ability to work extensive hours, weekends, and be very flexible
