Job Description: 

This position is primarily responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing marketing and promotion initiatives for the National Mango Board’s (NMB) retail program. The Retail Marketing Manager manages retail account managers and collaborates with the management team to maximize the yearly budget and to fulfill the NMB’s mission of increasing mango awareness and consumption in the U.S.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manages the NMB national retail marketing program at the direction of the Director of Marketing. Manages the retail account manager team to ensure all aspects of the retail marketing program bring the strongest possible results. Participates in regular meetings with the Director of Marketing and retail account managers to ensure the retail program fully meets the NMB’s needs.
  • Develops retail promotion allocation targets and manages the retail promotions budget, fulfillment (payment) for retail promotions, retail reports, and collateral to maximize the positive impact on the mango industry and ensure equitable support for all retail regions.
  • Directs the planning process for the following year’s retail program; overlays the strategic plan objectives with each retail program area, setting the program budget based on available funds and working closely with agencies and consultants on the development of the retail program to meet NMB’s goals for the next year.
  • Provides insights and support to the Director of Marketing on a variety of projects, including distributor strategy.
  • Prepares for and participates in Board meetings, marketing committee meetings, conference calls, and the annual retail team strategic planning meeting. This includes preparing and presenting updates and working with the marketing team to develop the retail portion of the marketing presentations, budgets, agendas and Minutes.
  • Fulfills administrative requirements, such as processing invoices, reviewing financial statements, preparing expense reports, and planning travel.
  • Analyze and process market data (Nielsen, 84.51 and other…) through template reporting for the benefit of the staff, Board members and industry members.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises three (3) retail account managers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training retail account managers as needed; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Represents the NMB at national and regional retail trade shows, and in retailer and category development meetings.
  • Ability to travel both domestic and overseas, work extended hours, attend Board meetings, professional conferences, and educational programs, with as much as 35 % travel.
  • A valid Class C driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under NMB vehicle insurance standards.

Must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks; where applicable.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Business, or related field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to retailers, top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity in using data management programs.

OTHER SKILL, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible marketing or sales experience involving a variety of campaigns, trade shows, and promotional resources.
  • Position is based in Orlando, Florida and would require in-office on a hybrid schedule.
  • Marketing experience involving commodity and not-for-profit organizations and retail accounts is a plus.
  • Principles and practices of retail and product marketing; budgeting practices; consumer demand principles; branding practices; trade show marketing practices; communications strategies; customer service practices, managing agencies and vendors.
  • Develop effective marketing campaigns; read, analyze, and interpret consumer trend information and reports; plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and meet project and program deadlines; exercise judgment and apply effective problem solving techniques; prepare sound recommendations; initiate and maintain effective relationships with management and staff, retail account managers, board members, contractors, consultants, and vendors; maintain the confidentiality of sensitive member information; communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using computer hardware and word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics, and related software applications.
  • Ability to work extended hours and attend marketing and business outreach meetings, Board meetings, tradeshows, and educational programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity to operate computer hardware and office equipment.
  • Frequently required to sit and to occasionally stand and walk to access office areas and meeting locations.
  • Occasionally lifts/carries reports, files, and records, typically weighing less than 10 lbs.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Other sensory demands include hearing and speaking with others.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The NMB follows a hybrid work schedule, with employees working from the NMB office, home, or off-site as needed. For the 2025 calendar year, new employees are expected to work from the NMB office five days per week during the first and second month of employment; four days per week in the office during the third and fourth month of employment; three days per week in the office during the fifth and sixth month of employment; and then at least two days per week in the office after the sixth month at the NMB. The policy is subject to change depending on internal and external factors.
