Job Description: 

Bonipak’s Harvesting department is responsible for the year-round harvest of 25 million packages of fresh cut vegetables a year. With growing locations in California & Arizona, the harvest department travels to different growing regions to assess the quality and quantity of all planted commodities and report back to the Sales department on a daily & weekly basis. The Harvest Department interacts with the Production and Operations department to ensure a consistent volume is available to supply Bonipak’s top tier contracted customer base.

The VP, Harvest evaluates harvest operational performance results against organizational and departmental goals. Develops operating budgets. Ensures compliance with standards and regulations The VP, Harvesting will Develop strategies and deploy tactics to attain short- and long-term financial and harvesting operational goals. Executes organizational strategies and ensures the continuous development of the Harvesting Team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Plans and directs the Harvesting Operational Policies, objectives and initiatives.
  • Oversee the harvest of 25M cartons of fresh produce each year, including strawberries, iceberg lettuce, spinach, cilantro, celery, red leaf, green leaf, broccoli, cauliflower, romaine, and parsley.
  • Direct operations for 12K acres of land within multiple growing regions, including San Maria, California and Yuma, Arizona.
  • Maintain harvest and labor budget, carefully monitoring all expenses to effectively manage department finances.
  • Reduce product rejection rates.
  • Manage the overall accuracy of estimated volume in the harvest department.
  • Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Board.
  • Work directly with Payroll, HR, Worker Safety, & Accounting department.
  • Communicate, Manage, and direct large teams across California & Arizona.

  • Director of Harvesting – Brassicas

  • Overseeing daily activity and production
  • Setting goals for Directors and Managers
  • Regularly attending Owner/Board Meetings

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Previous 5+ years of field level experience, FLC experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in using critical things, problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a part of a collaborative team. Ability to prioritize deadlines & projects, including coordinating the efforts of multiple contributors, and establish time frames for completion of projects and assignments.
  • Willingness and ability to embrace and follow the Company Handbook. Ability to interact constructively and employees at all levels, upper management, owners, and community members, with diverse personalities and cultures, exercising sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy with an emphasis on flexibility, customer service and professionalism.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows operating systems and related business and communication software and a demonstrated ability to learn and use various campus administrative computing systems and applications including, but not limited to Outlook, Microsoft 365 (work, PowerPoint, Excel) with the ability to update and expand skills as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee must have the ability to walk, talk, hear, see, speak, concentrate, reach in all directions, stoop, bend, lift up to 60 lbs.
