JOB FILLED - Senior Account Manager

Job Description: 

Calavo Growers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Account Manager in Santa Paula, CA.

Job Objective: Manage avocado and Calavo Select product sales to retail food stores, club stores, mass merchandisers, produce wholesalers, produce brokers and food service accounts by performing the duties listed below in the full job description. THIS ROLE IS BASED OUT OF OUR CORPORATE OFFICES IN SANTA PAULA, CA. This is not a remote position. 

Essential Job Functions:  The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Calls on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders by phone.
  • Negotiates prices and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Ensures daily inventories are sold through at a competitive return price and customers are supplied on a priority basis.
  • Coordinates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm’s production and delivery schedules.
  • Negotiates promotional support while operating within assigned promotional budget.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with product quality, product quantity, pricing and deliveries.
  • Occasionally will be required to attend local trade shows, sales seminars & customer meetings.
  • Some afterhours & weekend duties required as situations arise.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned and required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or the equivalent of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years experience in a sales position, either inside or outside sales preferably in the agriculture/produce industry.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to negotiate terms of sales orders.
  • Proficient PC skills in MS Office; previous experience using order entry systems highly preferred.
  • Ability to travel when needed.

Compensation:

  • The base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $131,428-$209,900.
  • The actual salary for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. 
  • Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or cash bonuses that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
