Job Description: 

Blue Banner Co. has been in the citrus industry for 75 years, specializing in packaging high-quality conventional citrus fruit. Alongside our organic packing house, National Organic Packing Co., we are poised for significant growth and are looking to expanding our reach to national and regional retail chains. Our goal is to build strong relationships with major retailers like Albertson’s, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Sam’s Club, and Costco to drive citrus sales and maximize grower returns.

We are seeking a highly motivated, ambitious, and results-driven Sales Representative to accelerate the growth of our citrus business. The ideal candidate is a go-getter with a strong sales background, experience in the produce industry, and a passion for building long-term relationships with top national and regional retailers. This individual will play a key role in expanding our customer base, collaborating with growers, and ensuring our citrus products meet market demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and expand relationships with major retail chains, wholesalers, and food service distributors.
  • Secure new business opportunities and increase market share for both conventional and organic citrus products.
  • Work closely with growers to plan, monitor, and manage product supply, ensuring alignment with market demands.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies that align with company goals and industry trends.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and consumer demand to optimize sales strategies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Track sales performance, analyze market trends, and provide actionable insights into leadership.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor under pressure, as situations occur such as; weather disruptions, equipment failures, and logistics delays are common in our industry.

Organizational Relationships:
Position reports to: Blue Banner Co. and National Organic Packing Co.   

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
  • Minimum 5 years in produce sales, preferably with experience in citrus, fresh produce, or perishable commodities.
  • Strong network within the retail and wholesale produce industry, with existing relationships at major retailers (Albertson’s, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Sam’s Club, and Costco) being a plus.
  • Ability to close deals, negotiate pricing, and manage contracts effectively.
  • Ability to analyze market data, forecast demand, and develop growth strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with growers, logistics teams, and executive leadership.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend industry events, and visit growers.
  • Experience in both organic and conventional citrus products.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Capability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
  • Be available 7 days a week during the peak harvest season, including nights and weekends to resolve issues and receive phone calls.
