Job Description:
The Commodity Manager (Buyer) position is a full-time position which is responsible for the flow of all assigned produce items both internal and externally procured from either domestic or imported sources. Primary duties and responsibilities for this position are securing a supply line to meet sales needs while maintaining profit margins assigned to those commodities.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Responsible for assisting in developing and sustaining relationships with growers and other supply lines
- Responsible for settlements and negotiations for revised billings
- Evaluate daily product reports and maintain acceptable inventory levels
- Manage the process for purchasing decisions and order fulfillment
- Be knowledgeable of food safety, food security and related regulatory requirements, assuring communication to and compliance by partners and growers
- Develop and manage analytical tools as needed
- Ability to determine market pricing and availability in order to procure product and maintain profitability
- Communicate market trends with sales and senior management
- Aware of the Company’s marketing strategies and long term goals
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Qualifications:
- Two or more years in produce purchasing experience
- Proven track record in demonstrating ability to solve problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Working knowledge in MS Office, Excel, Outlook and Famous or Inventory Management Systems
- Ability to multi-task and work in high pressure environment
- Bi-lingual (specifically Spanish) not required but a plus
- Strong organizational and time management skills
