Job Description: 

Bella Vista Produce, Inc. is a family owned business located in Santa Maria, California.  The current owners are the 5th generation to be farming in the Santa Maria Valley.  With ± 1,800 acres under cultivation, our crops include iceberg lettuce, romaine, celery, broccoli, brussel sprouts, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, and cauliflower.

We are currently searching for an energetic, experienced, focused and trustworthy person to join our sales team in Santa Maria. If you are a salesperson who knows how to move product, we want to hear from you!  

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, be highly motivated, personable and outgoing.  If you can bring a positive attitude to the busy workplace every day, then we want you!

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Establish new accounts by calling on potential new customers.
  • Service existing accounts by obtaining orders.
  • Ensure the collection of all account receivables on the sales you make and confirm that each customer is within acceptable terms.
  • Strategize and focus your efforts on growing sales to quality customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintain a leading-edge awareness of the changing business and market trends in the produce industry.  Be aware of upcoming challenges and share this knowledge with the sales staff to ensure that we stay ahead of the competition.

Requirements:

  • Have 2+ years of experience in a produce sales office.
  • Must be persuasive negotiator.
  • Solid understanding of the fresh vegetable industries.
  • Must be able to speak fluent English and have a clear and confident phone voice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • A good working knowledge software including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to work every other Saturday.
  • Self-motivated with a strong will and an internal desire to succeed.
  • Ability to recognize and define problems, find possible solutions and execute a plan to overcome them.
  • Professional and polished demeanor when working with others.

Not Required: but, a definite plus quality:

  • Spanish speaking.
  • Degree in business or sales related field.
  • Experience with Famous Software.
