Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting:
- Develop and maintain cost accounting in Famous Software, ensuring accurate cost tracking.
- Collaborate with operations to monitor and control production and purchasing costs.
- Analyze costs, labor, and overhead to provide detailed cost reports and variance analysis.
Inter-Company Accounting:
- Oversee complex accounting transactions across multiple companies.
- Manage grower settlements and address discrepancies between inter-companies to ensure balances.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring GAAP compliance.
- Support the Corporate Controller with management reports and financial summaries.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process and review accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in managing cash flow by monitoring outstanding transactions.
- Provide financial reports for management review and approval.
Compliance & Tax Support:
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards.
- Collaborate with Senior Management to minimize tax exposure.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with operations and logistics to gather necessary financial data.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations that support business decisions.
Other Duties:
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc tasks as needed.
What You Need to Succeed:
Education:
- A B.S./B.A. in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years in accounting, with experience in cost accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience with Famous Software is highly preferred.
- Experience in the produce industry is a plus.
- Proven experience managing accounting functions within a large organization ($200M+ revenue).
Skills:
- Bilingual in Spanish (read and write) is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial reporting standards.
- Familiarity with Famous Software and Power Business Integrated with Famous is ideal.
Physical Demands & Environment:
- Primarily an indoor office setting (100% of the time), but with visits to the warehouse and cold storage area.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs and light physical activity such as bending, stooping, and reaching.
- A low-noise office environment with a comfortable temperature range between 65-80 degrees.
