Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to lead East Coast operations, overseeing all inbound logistics, production coordination, and repacking activities. This individual will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, documentation, and internal workflows to ensure the timely and cost-effective movement of fresh produce from the port to the customer.
This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth day-to-day execution and setting the stage for continued expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct all inbound and outbound operations, from port arrival to final delivery
- Coordinate with third-party vendors, including cold storage, repack facilities, and carriers
- Manage order allocations, production schedules, and inventory tracking
- Oversee EDI files, customs documentation, and shipping manifests
- Monitor vendor performance and negotiate rates to ensure cost control
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and food safety protocols
- Collaborate with Accounting to validate vendor invoices and support accurate billing
- Supervise an operations support admin (based remotely)
- Review and refine operational procedures for improved efficiency and accountability
- Generate and analyze daily reporting on inventory and repack activity
- Serve as the key operations liaison across Sales, QA, and Accounting teams
Candidate Profile
- 7+ years of experience in operations management within the fresh produce industry
- Strong understanding of import logistics, repack coordination, and cold storage practices
- Familiarity with inventory systems and shipping documentation
- ERP experience preferred (Famous Software is a plus)
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills
- Ability to manage time-sensitive challenges and respond as needed during off-hours
- Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
