The Shipping Manager supervises and coordinates activities of workers involved with order fulfillment of product and preparing it for shipping both nationally and internationally via expedited carrier services. The Shipping Manager plays an essential role in the logistic and order fulfillment process, allowing B & W to maintain the Quality, Integrity, Teamwork and Results we are committed to.
CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES
Valid Driver’s License and acceptable MVR. Experienced Forklift Operators License.

Must be able to work weekends, and long hours if needed. Environmental conditions are similar to those of a typical production or manufacturing office and that of a packinghouse where temperatures vary inclusive of working in cold controlled temperature of 34degrees.
Logistics
- Schedule and execute loading activities
- Schedule pick up and arrival schedules for all inbound/outbound loads
- Track loads and communicate service issues to Sales Team.
- Supervise plant shipping personnel.
- Issue written and oral instructions.
- Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of shipping personnel.
- Act as afterhours contact for carriers and drivers pertaining to logistic issues.
Inventory Management
- Communicate daily warehouse inventory for reconciliation and processing needs.
- Ensure daily accuracy of inventory and date code compliance.
- Ensure correct and timely outbound shipping in all locations (Florida, Tennessee and West Virginia) using FIFO system.
- Ensure correct and timely in-bound shipping of raw product from all farm locations
- Work with Director of Logistics and Inventory on creating a more efficient inventory management system.
- Work with Director of Logistics and Inventory on daily, weekly and monthly forecasting.
General Duties
- Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
- Confer with other managers in the Plant and Sales Team to ensure coordination of other functions such as production and inventory management.
- Identify employees’ skills and develop them by coaching and counseling employees on a regular basis.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and provide continual feedback on both positive and negative performance.
- Expected to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in a safe manner and according to the standard set by B & W.
- Supervise 2-6 direct reports.
- High School Diploma required. BS in Business, Logistics & Transportation, Accounting or related field preferred and/or at least 3-5 years experience in shipping and/or transportation of perishable products.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills, Spanish oral skills would be helpful.
- Ability plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Experienced Forklift Operator.
- Ability to utilize a Forklift, Shrink Wrapper, Pallet Jack and General office equipment.
- Sales and inventory management experience a plus.

Foundation in accounting and billing preferred.

Working knowledge of planning, forecasting and inventory management within the fast paced environment of produce or related field/industry.

Strong communication and leadership skills required.

A self starter capable of working well with wide range of individuals and departments.

Knowledge of the inter and intra state laws regarding transportation.

Should have contacts in hauling LTL loads.

Strong planning, training, analytical, forecasting skills plus the ability to develop new and innovative ways to improve current processes and systems.
