Warehouse Quality Assurance Manager

Job Description: 

The Warehouse Operations / Quality Assurance Manager will initiate, implement and enforce Quality Control and Food Safety programs for maintaining best quality and safe food product by managing resources, quality, and food safety activities in the plant. They must understand and communicate quality and food safety program and reports promptly to upper level Managers, subordinates, peers and other managers as necessary, including regulatory agents and auditors.

This person will provide overall direction and guidance to operational activities with the objective of maximizing operational efficiencies and profitability as well as day-to-day leadership and management of all warehouse operations functions.

We require candidates who are self-motivated, with strong leadership skills. We're looking for someone who is proactive and has strong organizational skills, and knows how to work collaboratively in a team environment.  This person must also have the availability to travel.
 

Requirements: 
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents including the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. 
  • Should be able to write legibly and effectively to management and peers using original or innovative style and techniques. 
  • Must be able to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex technical topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Should be able to calculate and figure out numerical notations such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Should be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 
  • Must possess ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases.
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory capacity in manufacturing environment.
  • This position requires relocation to other plant site locations for specific periods of time.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Develop and maintain HACCP Program for Value-Added Products.
  • Analyze, evaluate and present information on Food Safety programs, manufacturing problems and development of new food products.
  • Responsible for assuring quality finish product consistent with specifications utilizing the SOP for each product processed and packed in the plant.  Ensures that the plant operates in accordance with good manufacturing practices and is in compliance with federal and state regulatory policies. 
  • Identify food safety and process improvement ideas for implementation.
  • Review technical procedures, identify problems, and recommend solutions in the areas of quality control and food safety to management.
  • Establish quality control processes and procedures for evaluating and receiving food components from customers.
  • Responsible for coordinating and responding to customer complaint issues, follow through corrective action in the plant with timely responses and solutions.
  • Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff to assume leadership.  Ensure that all product files are kept up to date on each product and programs.
  • Initiate cost reduction ideas and control QC department operating costs, including payroll.
  • Perform assigned projects and reports promptly.
  • Identify work place safety hazards and develop ideas and solution to correct promptly.
  • Participate in production improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with operation plan to reduce overall customer complaints on product produced on each shift.
  • Directly supervises QA and Sanitation supervisors, two forepersons and indirectly, all QA staff on both shifts.
  • Perform fruit inspections of all the inbound pineapples, and the quality assurance of the outbound (in compliance with customer specifications).
  • Management of warehouse inventories (Considering FIFO and quality aspects) in order to ensure the proper rotation of the fruit.
  • Support to the sales department with accurate information of the fruit’s condition.
  • Support to the Logistics and Inventory Departments 
Education: 
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Food Sciences or Agriculture-Biochemistry; and four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Fresh Processing industry in the capacity of a Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Licenses: Must have a valid driver’s license.
Skills: 
  • English/Spanish bi-lingual ability preferred.
