Job Description: 

We’re seeking a driven and experienced Sales Representative to join our growing team. The ideal applicant has a network of customer relationships, self-motivated, and capable of driving sales independently.  In this role, the candidate will be responsible for building and developing new business opportunities through purchasing product for existing customers.  The applicant will also need to have a good reputation, integrity, and desire to develop their career.

Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Research, identify and acquire new customers. Assess market opportunities and open new accounts. Lead the sales process from initial contact to closing. Identify further opportunities among existing accounts through purchasing additional products to satisfy customers demands. Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to acquire new retail customers, including grocery stores, wholesalers, and distributors.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and support to ensure satisfaction and repeat business. Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with clients, balancing profitability with customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute sales strategies and plans to achieve company goals and exceed sales targets. Manage the negotiations of pricing, availability and daily transactional with customers.
  • Product Management: Oversee daily inventory, manage supply and demand, and optimize profitability by understanding market trends and pricing strategies.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats in the fresh produce industry.
  • Product Knowledge: Gain in-depth knowledge of our fresh produce products, marketing solutions, and industry trends to effectively communicate value propositions to clients.
  • Sales Reporting: Track and report on sales activities, pipeline status, and performance metrics to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, administrative and operations teams to align sales efforts with company objectives to ensure successful onboarding and ongoing account management.
  • Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and events to network and identify new business opportunities.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, acting as a consultant to customers to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
  • Review customers and make sure they are aligned with our company strategies to achieve sales and profitability goals.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development or sales preferably in the fresh produce or food industry.
  • Strong understanding of fresh produce in the retail, foodservice, and wholesale markets.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and drive business growth.  
  • A well-developed book of established customers.
  • A strong desire to pursue, qualify and close sales leads.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships with diverse clientele.
  • Proven track record in managing programmed business.
  • Passion for the fresh produce industry and a desire to contribute to our company’s success and growth.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and demands of customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
