Job Description:

We are currently seeking a QC Specialist for our Long Beach, CA location, ensuring all produce in our inventory complies with company standards.

Job Description:

  • Thoroughly examine inbound and outbound shipments, assessing their quality in accordance with company standards.
  • Check the quality of produce and conduct re-inspections when necessary.
  • Review, evaluate, interpret, summarize, and present data generated in support of method validation and stability studies.
  • Maintain equipment according to maintenance schedules, company requirements, and SOPs.
  • Send QC reports for inbound shipments to relevant internal departments as well as suppliers.
  • Read, understand, and comply with current standards as required by the FDA.
  • Support internal and external food safety audits.
  • Inspect product and materials used at all stages of production to ensure the strictest standards are met.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate documentation to support testing procedures including but not limited to data capture forms, equipment logbooks, and inventory forms.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and workflows to meet federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate facility records, assess any problems, and create preventative action plan if necessary.
  • Monitor food safety, traceability, and specifications to determine present standards and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Maintain quality control objectives complementary to the company’s policies and goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in food science or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience necessary.
  • 3-5 years of experience with prior experience in quality control or quality assurance within the produce industry.
  • Proven familiarity with quality control and SQF fundamentals (HACCP, FDA, ASQ, GLP).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify trends in the industry and recommend improvements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
