Procurement Manager

Job Description: 

Capay Inc. (Capay Organics & Farm Fresh To You), the area's leading grower of organic produce is currently seeking a Procurement Manager. Coordinates the spot and replenishment purchasing, product flow, and distribution of materials and supplies for Farm Fresh To You and Capay Organics by performing the following duties.
  • Coordinates supply chain management including resource planning, scheduling and perishable inventory control; 
  • Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through delivery; 
  • Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost effective manner including booking and coordinating inbound and outbound freight; 
  • Coordinates with regional departments to insure consistent quality and smooth flows of product and information; 
  • Assists in the coordination of balancing FFTY, CO Sales and Capay Farms supply needs and inventory to 
  • help reduce cost and maximize company profitability; 
  • Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed; 
  • Manages vendor relations and supplier development with selected vendors; 
  • Manages quality control, product rejections and resolves vendor disputes; 
  • Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity. Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements; 
  • Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used; 
  • Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs; 
  • Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations; 
  • Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality 
  • standards of the company; 
  • Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records; 
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others is required; 
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  •  Directly supervises one employee in the Procurement Department. 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or eight to ten years 
  • related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with fresh 
  • Produce preferred.
Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Famous Database software; Internet software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
