Role:

As the Farm Manager of the clean stock nursery, you will have an array of responsibilities to keep your day moving. First and foremost, the priority is the plants, you will oversee the growth of strawberry nursery runners, in the field and greenhouses over the course of the different stages of the clean stock nursery. Other responsibilities of the Farm Manager which support the growth of robust nursery runners include:

Responsibilities:

  • Managing labor time, all year long, Overseeing field crew leader.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits and follow company safety precautions.
  • Retaining perpetual phytosanitary techniques in the fields and greenhouses.
  • Utilizing your broad knowledge of strawberry pests and diseases to apply against pest pressures and developing IPM for the nursery site.
  • The ability to look at the bigger picture and display a high attention to detail.
  • Work outdoors in Central Valley Weather, all year long. Which also means starting your day early to beat the heat in the summer.
  • Regularly communicating with team members throughout the day.
  • Field preparations for planting, growing and harvesting nursery plants; tractor work, soil fumigation prep, coordinating what is planted, plant treatments, mapping.
  • Irrigation operations; installation, maintenance, injections and scheduling for nursery plants both field and green house.
  • Regular maintenance and upkeep on equipment and infrastructure to ensure all stages of operations can occur on time.
  • Reports to the VP of Operations

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree a Plus but not Required
  • 5+ years farming experience
  • Obtains or ability to obtain California PAC

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to safely and correctly operate and maintain all relevant nursery farm equipment
  • Bi-lingual Spanish and English
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • General mechanical and building skills
