Fresno Jobs
Fresno County is home to 1.88 million acres of the world’s most productive farmland, with agricultural operations covering nearly half of the county’s entire land base of 3.84 million acres.
Farmers here raise more than 350 different crops, contributing directly more than $5.6 billion to the California economy and supporting 20 percent of all jobs in the Fresno area. Many of the county’s crops are not grown commercially anywhere else in the nation.
Every $1 generated on the farm produces another $3.50 in the local and regional economy.
Why Is Fresno A Great Place To Live?
There are many benefits to calling Fresno home. Fresnans talk about their city’s lively arts scene, fine state university, and easygoing vibe. The city is situated in the middle of the state, allowing residents to get into the Sierra Nevada in under two hours and to the Pacific in under three.
And then there is affordability. A survey by the financial website GoBankingRates found that Fresno is one of the country’s most affordable places to live in California. You could live comfortably in Fresno on an income of roughly $44,500 a year, putting the city on par with Albuquerque and Detroit. That’s compared to about $70,000 in San Diego, $76,000 in Los Angeles and $110,000 in San Francisco.
