NewStar/ Organic Girl is currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist who will be responsible for implementing human resources programs by providing services, assisting in developing and administering policies and procedures. You will also be required to administer all benefits and deal with employee relations, performance management, and compliance training.

Responsibilities & Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- JOB DESCRIPTIONS. Develop job descriptions that are accurate and compliant per applicable regulations, participate with and provide input in establishing a structure for career path by position, follow FLSA criteria to determine position exemption status.
- COMPENSATION EVALUATION AND ANALYSIS to include participating in compensation and benefit surveys; sourcing and obtaining compensation and benefits survey data; analyzing compensation information by position to form recommendations on salary range; participate with and provide input in building salary ranges, grades, and structured program including merit and other pay increase guidelines.
- COMPLIANCE. Manage the department’s compliance program with regard to required postings and notices in the employment process, EEO-1 reporting, record retention program, personnel and medical files as well as other HR related files, and healthcare reform compliance for all health and welfare plans offered by the company. Ensure required compliance training is scheduled and conducted for harassment prevention in the workplace.
- LEAVES OF ABSENCE. Oversee and manage the leave of absence program for all company employees. Ensure standard operating procedure is in place, leave materials and processing of leaves is compliant, ensure leaves are tracked and monitored on a regular basis.
- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. Administer various human resources plans and procedures for company personnel; assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
- BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION. Administer the Company’s benefits program for administrative/non-union employees to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees. Manage and administer the company’s wellness program.
- EMPLOYEE RELATIONS and PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT. As assigned, partner with managers and provide consultation and guidance to improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees. Assist in conducting investigations and in responding to regulatory agencies. Provide assistance in investigating and responding to grievances.
- TRAINING. Participate and make recommendations in developing a company-wide training program for administrative employees, identify training needs, costs, source trainers, coordinate and schedule the training, track and monitor training attendance and effectiveness.
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or similar and minimum 5 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist role OR equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Qualifications:
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
- Experience with Payroll, FMLA/CFRA, PDL, ADA, Disability Leave, Benefits, National Labor Relations Act, Dept. Of Labor, Fair Labor Standards Act, ERISA, HIPAA, DFEH, EEOC.
- Working knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Union Labor Relations experience preferred.
- English/Spanish written and oral fluency preferred.
- Some travel may be required.
