Healthy Flavors is our "umbrella brand" for two farms, one in middle Tennessee and one in central Arkansas.
Nestled in the rolling hills south of Nashville, TN, this farm includes 41,000 square feet of greenhouse space, 30,000 square feet of hoop space and outdoor growing areas. We specialize in culinary herbs for major national retailers and wholesalers. Year round, we grow an assortment of herbs, including basil, thyme, oregano, dill, chives, mint, cilantro, parsley, rosemary, sage, bay leaves and other specialties.
In June 2012, Nadia and Dan Spatz purchased the farm, which was set up in 1986 as one of the first hydroponic greenhouse operations in Tennessee. We renamed the business Healthy Flavors, Inc. The name represents our vision to "spread the news" that good health starts with healthy, tasty food.
Healthy Flavors Arkansas is a re-boot of the legacy farm from Dan's family, the Dan-Harton Farm located in Conway. We are slowly working to convert 400 acres of cultivatable, irrigated farmland in the Arkansas river valley onto specialty crops for local customers. We are set up to shell, grade and clean southern peas; slice, wash, and spin dry greens; and peel, dice or cut strips of summer and winter squash.
We are aiming to play a role in developing the motivation and demand for locally produced foods in school, through active participation in Farm to School programs and activities. In doing so, and through other initiatives, we aim to play our role in bending the current industrial food system toward more local, community focusd, resource generative based and farm led activity in and evolving food system.
Nadia and Dan both have corporate experience in the food industry. We want to stay family focused as we work to professionalize, not "corporatize" the farms. Anyone with a background in agriculture, the ambition of a business owner and a passion for working hard for your community is welcome to express an interest in our teams.
