Leading the world in accurate, high speed packhouse technology for the produce industry.
It all began over 30 years ago with a prototype built in the garage of a student flat. A visionary young man, completing a Masters degree in electrical engineering foresaw a gap in the rapidly expanding kiwifruit market in New Zealand. He identified that the industry lacked a fruit sorting machine that combined mechanical, electrical and optical technologies, that would be faster and more accurate than conventional fruit grading machines available at the time. So he decided to build one. That young man was Hamish Kennedy, the founder of Compac. Hamish was the son of a kiwifruit orchardist and what he was about to build in the basement of his friend's house would revolutionize accurate, high speed sorting machines for the fresh produce market - turning a part-time project into a global business.
Leading the way in the future of packhouse technology.
Compac quickly grew from the leading provider of kiwifruit sorting equipment to a world class, global business that sets the benchmark for advancements in technology across the produce industry.
