The Sun Coast Farms story began in 2003 when Lisa Dias, a woman who began her professional career working for a grower and Sonny Smith, a man who spent his entire life harvesting for other growers, decided to combine their talents to provide the fresh cut processing industry with quality grown commodities. Over the course of the last ten years, Sun Coast Farms has built a grower/shipper operation that farms and harvests over 4,000 acres in California’s Salinas Valley and Arizona’s Yuma Valley.
Since its beginning, SCF has focused to the vertical integration of its company. SCF controls the growing, harvest, cooling and distribution of its crops. In 2011, Sun Coast Farms expanded its vertical integration and opened a fresh cut processing facility located in Carrollton, Texas approximately 20 miles north of Dallas, Texas.
Headquartered in Santa Maria, California, Lisa manages the daily sales operations and Sonny manages the growing and harvesting of the crops. Sun Coast Farms’ major commodities are iceberg lettuce, leaf lettuces, broccoli and cauliflower. Our other crops include seasonal red, green and jalapeno peppers along with a smattering of other commodities specifically grown by customer request.
