Who We Are
We are Sigona’s! The name that’s synonymous with the freshest, best-quality produce and specialty grocery items around. We’re family-owned, we’re passionate about fresh healthy foods, and we’re local on the Peninsula. We work with a large number of local growers from nearby farming communities such as Salinas, Morgan Hill, Half Moon Bay, Brentwood, and Placerville. With them, we source the very best the earth has to offer – much of it organic or pesticide-free, using age-old methods of keeping crops safe from pests and disease. We’ve chosen certain farmers that we trust to farm their land with the utmost integrity and have developed relationships with them for over 30 years.
Sourcing locally wherever we can does not only support small family farms—it also supports a healthier planet because food grown locally travels a shorter distance from farm to you, making for a much smaller carbon footprint.
You Benefit Personally As Well
Food that’s grown locally can be sun-ripened on the plant, picked at the peak of perfection, and hand-packed to take a short drive to you. It’s the next-best thing to going to the farm and picking it yourself!
We Tirelessly Strive For Excellence.
The pride in our work – and our reputation for fresh produce – keeps us on our toes, always searching the markets and the farms to bring you the very best for your team, and at a fair price.
We’d like to become your partner in creating a healthier and more productive workplace.
Like any workplace, there’s a whole team behind the business. And like any workplace, there’s a key leader for that business. For us, it’s Jimmy Sigona, who was born into the business.
Jimmy Sigona: Fruit Thoughts
I grew up in the family business—lived and breathed Sigona’s Farmers Market since I was about 6 years old. Over the years you may have seen me as a courtesy clerk, cashier, cheese shop leader, or just browsing the great products right next to you, chatting about anything interesting. Lately I’ve been more involved in systems development - working in the back offices. I’m so excited to now be working with this great project, Fruit For Thought.
Growing up in a family whose business is all about fresh food, I learned quite naturally through absorbing the environment around me. I remember picking ollalieberries at my grandfather’s orchard (who, by the way, is in his eighties and still makes much-coveted ollalieberry pies for family celebrations).
It was one day in high school that I realized not everybody was so fortunate as to know what to do with fresh fruit, or even how to eat it. I had a friend over who saw some mangos on the counter. I told him to grab one if he wanted to. To my surprise he had no idea what to do with it, or how to eat it. I just thought everyone knew about fruit. Since then, I have realized that people need to have fruit around them and be familiar with it if they were ever going to eat it on a regular basis.
Now I’m dedicating nearly all my time and energy to our newest venture, Sigona’s Office Deliveries. It’s a great way to bring fresh produce to the workplace to connect the real gems of Bay Area businesses, the employees, that work so hard to give us our bustling economy here, with local family farms.
I can see how much happier and healthier workers are when they get nature’s vitamins in their food, and I am determined to fill their offices with delicious fresh fruit and healthy snacks.
