POTATO BUYER
Joe Produce Search is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a well-established and growth-focused produce company. Our client is a trusted leader in the industry, known for operational excellence, long-standing grower partnerships, and a commitment to quality and customer service.
We are seeking a seasoned Potato Buyer to join their dynamic procurement team. This individual will take the lead in sourcing and purchasing potatoes across North America. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of produce markets, exceptional supplier relationships, and solid experience in inventory management and negotiation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the sourcing and procurement of potatoes and related commodities across North America.
- Assess market trends to identify supply opportunities and mitigate risk.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with growers, shippers, and suppliers.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate product flow.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to drive value and reliability.
- Monitor inventory levels, manage product rotation, and support demand forecasting.
- Ensure product quality, delivery timelines, and customer satisfaction standards are consistently met.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing and supplier data across relevant systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fresh produce buying, with strong preference for experience in potatoes and onions.
- Deep understanding of North American produce markets and sourcing networks.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management capabilities.
- Familiarity with inventory and supply chain systems is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to travel as needed and work non-traditional hours based on seasonal demands.
