Job Description: 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Compliance Coordinator will maintain food safety, compliance, and sustainability programs. This role will develop and update SOP's, product/packaging specifications, and GTINs, ensuring alignment with regulatory and quality standards. The responsibilities include managing customer/consumer complaints, supporting new product development, and maintaining customer portals with accurate documentation.

This role will also oversee vendor, grower, and supplier compliance, ensuring certifications and records are up to date. Additionally, this role will support sustainability initiatives, state water board compliance, and assist in audits and risk assessments to drive continuous improvement and regulatory adherence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, review, and maintain SOP’s related to food safety, processing and compliance to ensure clarity and regulatory alignment
• Update and manage product specifications for raw ingredients, packaging, and finished goods, ensuring quality and safety standards
• Track, resolve, and document consumer complaints while collaborating with QA to implement corrective actions
• Support New Product Development by ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining necessary documentation
• Collaborate on sustainability initiatives, monitor resource usage, and support compliance with environmental standards
• Maintain and update state water board compliance records to ensure adherence to regulations
• Assign, update, and manage GTIN's for accurate product identification and coordination with supply chain teams
• Update and manage customer portals with current documentation, meeting client and regulatory requirements
• Oversee vendor, grower, and supplier compliance by maintaining records and ensuring certification accuracy
• Manage nutritional labels and organic artwork, coordinating updates to meet regulatory and labeling requirement
• Assist in internal audits and risk assessments, documenting findings and corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Punctual and reliable
• Ability to work within a flexible schedule
• Must be able to work closely with others
• Understanding of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards
• Basic knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, LGMA, and GMPs
• Knowledge of product specifications for raw ingredients, packaging, and finished goods
• Ability to manage and resolve consumer complaints, including root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
• Knowledge in managing GTIN assignments and database accuracy for product identification
• Understanding of sustainability initiatives
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining records and documentation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and documentation management systems
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• AA/AS degree preferred and/or two years of compliance experience or any combination of education and experience is desired
• One year plus experience or experience in production environment preferred
• Experience with traceability systems and knowledge of GS1 standards
• Experience supporting audits and inspections in a food processing facility
• Experience in food safety or compliance role, preferably in produce or leafy greens
• Experience with document management and workflow
• Experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining SOP’s for food safety, processing, and compliance

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Able to work in loud, cold and wet environment. Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis. Lift and move up to 30 pounds occasionally. Any specialized tools needed for a specific task, will be provided by the company and are to remain on site in the company designated storage area.
