Under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Manager, the Outbound QA Inspector is quick-thinking, flexible, and able to juggle multiple priorities with a strong emphasis on organization and an unwavering attention to detail. This is a demanding and fast-moving position that requires a proactive and positive thinker who is able to exercise good judgment, effective communication, and initiative.

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure customer acceptance by verifying QC standards and product integrity of outbound orders before loading, coordinate Birddogs inspections, and working closely with the Sales and Operations teams to validate that the best suited inventory is allocated to the best suited customer.

Salary:
Compensation will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors, as permitted by applicable law.

Base Salary: $65,000 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works as member of Pacific Trellis Quality Control team and with 3rd Party Inspection Services to note, record, and report the attributes of our products and requires the use of a camera. Partners closely with all sales offices to coordinate allocation of ‘right product to right customer’.
  • Conducts inspections and assists contracted or Grower/Shipper QC inspection services.
  • Provides oversight and participates in Outbound product checking and Repacking operations.
  • Monitors the rotation, condition, quality of products in inventory and actively reports any issues.
  • Documents and enters information (e.g., product quality, inventory, re-pack, and reconditioning activities) in computer system files.
  • Produces computer generated inspection reports and related quality control reports for all inspections.
  • Works with Inventory, Sales, Transportation, Operations, & Cold Storage facilities to investigate and resolve problems accurately and quickly.
  • Provides support and backup to other departments to accomplish related tasks as needed.
  • Provides timely and friendly customer service.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that is likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position will be considered. Typically, this includes:

  • Bachelor’s, foreign equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience in Agriculture, or a closely related degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • 2+ years of direct or related experience in quality inspection and control within the produce industry is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work Location: Office (10%) / Cold Storage (90%) – Onsite.
  • Stress Level: Moderate to high, particularly high during the peak season. Stress is driven by tight deadlines, multi-tasking, and the fast-paced nature of the fresh produce industry.
  • Noise Level: Office noise level is generally moderate. Colds storage noise level is moderate to high.
  • Temperature: Cold storage temperature can be at 32F.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee should possess to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without accommodations.

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking within cold storage and docks, speaking on the phone, and commuting between locations to work on a computer.
  • Sustained frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, elbows, and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and focus.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45lbs.
