Our customers include Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Costco, and other leading retailers and distributors across the USA.

Overview:
Ark Foods is seeking a driven and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee all production at our Immokalee, FL packinghouse facility. Every day we produce and ship out thousands of boxes of different vegetables for retail and wholesale. These include bulk bushel and half bushel boxes, as well as packaged clamshells and bags for retail. Our focus is specialty vegetables such as chili peppers and tomatoes. Our facility is semi-automated, and we strive to streamline production, and become more efficient.

This role will report to our VP of Operations, and will collaborate closely with our Packhouse Manager. The ideal candidate is based in Florida from October through May, but is willing to travel to and work out of our South Carolina packinghouse facility from June through September. Local housing will be provided in SC for June through September.

Key work streams will include:

  • Own and manage our entire repack operation at our Florida facility
  • Oversee daily packhouse labor force of 30-50 employees. Identify top performers, structure teams, schedule labor, plan pack lines, execute plan to fulfill customer orders
  • Identify inefficiencies, areas for improvement, ways to pack outbound customer orders, and generally operate in a better way.
  • Look for continuous improvement. Structure teams and utilize machinery with the explicit goal of reducing total facility labor hours
  • Maintain to-the-box repack and inventory counts, updated daily, to help guide sales team
  • Actively communicate with senior management regarding inventory, labor, repack progress, product quality, and other key elements of daily packhouse performance
  • Ensure proper QA, compliance, fulfillment. Identify proper balance between quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate with VP of QA to ensure food-safe practices and policies are enforced
  • Be a leader. Identify top performers among our labor force. Motivate them, and give them new responsibilities, goals, and metrics to incentive strong performance and improvement

Requirements:

  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Ability to teach and train employees, to motivate and get the best out of them
  • World-class communication skills
  • Production management experience in fresh produce industry
  • A keen eye for how to reduce labor hours and improve efficiencies
  • Agility in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment
  • Scrappiness and persistence
  • Ideally, willingness to spend most / all of summer production season in Spartanburg, SC
