Job Description: 

We are a medium-sized manufacturing company that takes raw beets and minimally processes them into ready-to-eat peeled and cooked products. Over 70% of our fresh beets are grown in Upstate NY within 100 miles of our state-of-the-art factory.

We are seeking a Raw Material Supply Chain Coordinator to join our team in Rochester, NY.

This role will mean working closely with the other members of the supply chain team helping to organize the timely and efficient deliveries of the raw materials that is needed to allow the factory to function efficiently. You will be liaising with other departments within Love Beets and our external suppliers who supply us the materials.  You will also assist and sometimes lead project work that will help us to continually improve. A large part of the role is working with fresh vegetables, so a thorough understanding of vegetable farming is required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Produce weekly delivery programs to give to our suppliers to help them plan the deliveries of beets or other vegetables, packaging, ingredients, and other consumables.  To do this you will be reviewing the production plan with the scheduler and the stocks we have available at Love Beets.
  • Update our delivery database with daily production yields, checking the usage and yields look accurate.
  • Will be looking at the quality of the beets that are delivered to the factory and at least bi-weekly in our longer-term cold stores, understanding the quality and helping to anticipate future quality. To help plan and minimize future yield losses.
  • Produce new Purchase Orders in our ERP system and send these to suppliers to confirm deliveries, check with them that orders are delivered on plan and system updated with any changes that occur.
  • Record/collect and analyze the results as they occur, so we can have accurate performance reviews, for weekly, monthly and at the end of the season, depending on the KPI.  Highlighting any issues, you see to the team.
  • Help produce monthly summaries of performance against budgets, this includes producing graphs of data and PowerPoint Presentations and sometime presenting these to the wider business.
  • Working with the supply chain team, you will be asked to assist in helping carry out project work, and sometimes leading these projects. Which may mean visiting suppliers and supporting staff and trial work in the factory.
  • Work with our grower supplier base to plan out harvesting capacity and harvest forecasts for our beets, during harvest visiting them on the farm to understand the wider supply chain and see the beets that you will be responsible for.
  • Benchmarking and sharing information across the G’s Group by collecting the relevant information from Love Beets and liaising with team members in the other beetroot business of the G’s Group.
  • Working with Sales and Marketing on sales forecasting, new product development and existing product development, to ensure the factory can run efficiently by having all the necessary raw materials available in a timely manner.
  • Assist the supply chain team in keeping all specifications and supplier packs up to date to meet SQF and company policy requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • College diploma in agriculture subjects or University degree.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of agriculture and food production/growing.
  • IT proficiency skills include Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Mathematical skills, high level of numeracy and utilizing targets and producing budgets.

The role requires collaborative working with a range of people and different departments within Love Beets but also from different businesses which will include:

  • Growers – beet and vegetable growers (conventional and organic)
  • 3rd Party Manufacturers and contractors
  • Import brokers – international shipping
  • Offshoot Brands – sales and marketing
  • Research and Development – Universities, seed houses and private parties

Other:

  • To work and assist other staff within Love Beets as and when is needed as requested by your manager.
  • Always act professionally when representing Love Beets to customers, suppliers, growers, and other 3rd parties.
  • Always try to enhance shareholder value and acting in the long-term interests of the shareholders
  • Will involve some travel to visit growers/suppliers both with New York state and across North America.
