Job Description: 

This is a Merchandising position responsible for purchasing fresh commodity Food Service products. Responsibilities:
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ability to work independently to determine and apply appropriate policies and procedures.      
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and questions independently.       
  • Good oral and written communication skills with ability to furnish information to those requesting status of change.        
  • Ability to operate and navigate technology.                                                                        
  • Ability to independently plan and carry out projects, resolve conflicts, coordinate work with others and interpret policy on own initiative.    
  • Ability to independently and proactively resolve problems within established parameters.
  • Ability to understand team dynamics and work well within a team structure.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, and customers
  • Ability to calculate numbers
Essential Duties:
  • Responsible for maintianing demand planning forecasting exceptions
  • Responsible for creating vendor purchase orders
  • Identifies and orders “fill-in” products as needed
  • Responsible for buying activities within the DPR system
  • Maintains acceptable in stock position and inventory levels designated by Director
  • Provides support for vendor returns along with managing aging, slow, and excess inventory
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
  • Minimum education level: High School Diploma.
  • 2 years experience in Fresh Commodity Food Service Purchasing.
  • Desirable level of education: Associate’s Degree
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
