Job Description: 

Assist the Ranch Manager and Owner in directing and coordinating with personnel related to the management and production of citrus, stone fruit and kiwifruit on the ranch property. 

Key responsibilities include labor organization and supervision of internal personnel and outside FLC crews, coordinating safety and work training, scheduling irrigation and nutrition, and oversee spray programs for pests and diseases. This involves being engaged in oversight of all production cycle activities, identifying issues, communicating with owner and creating solutions.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Stone fruit, kiwifruit and citrus production management
  • Food safety practices
  • Worker Safety Practices and Accident Prevention Plan
  • Accounting operations related to field activities

Required Experience/Skills:

  • 3-year minimum experience managing fruit orchards
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Efficient management of company resources and labor
  • Self motivated, organized and innovative
  • Somewhat computer and smart phone literate

Certifications Required:

  • Valid CA Driver’s License
  • CA Tulare County Private Applicator License (preferred or can obtain)
  • First Aid Card (preferred or can obtain)

Abilities Required:

  • Assist in coordinating irrigation schedules with irrigators
  • Consult with Pest Control Advisor to coordinate spay program recommendations and approve for application
  • Assist in acquiring and timely availability of all necessary chemicals, fertilizers, supplies, parts and tools
  • Monitor proper mixing and application of sprays and fertilizers
  • Maintain accurate spray and fertilizer records
  • Ensure compliance and training relating to food safety and worker safety
  • Oversee crews performing harvesting, pruning, thinning, grafting and other orchard tasks
  • Set and communicate priorities for orchard tasks and schedules
  • Coordinate harvest schedules and estimates with packers and marketers
  • Review time cards, FLC crew sheets, harvest quantities and pack outs
  • Look for new cultural practices, product services and methods that increase productivity
