JOB FILLED - Sales Representative

Job Description: 

The Sales Representative will be responsible for establishing long term working relationships with customers. Coordinate produce sales to insure satisfactory sales and profits for the company. Provide excellent customer service by meeting the needs and concerns of customers. Sales reps will partner with management and inside sales reps to help resolve customer questions and complaints. Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements: 
  • At least four years of outside sales experience in the produce industry with proven sales record, preferred
  • Previous experience in retail produce sales, produce procurement, or produce merchandising in a retail sector is required.
  • A vast knowledge of the fresh produce industry is needed to be successful in this role.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written, verbal and oral presentation skills.
  • Must have an excellent work record with references from current and/or previous employers.
  • Ability to plan, organize, implement, and follow through on projects.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills:  Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, And PowerPoint.
  • Dependable vehicle with safe driving record and proof of insurance
  • Ability to work flexible hours and days
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Keeping abreast of market conditions and new items
  • Pricing strategies—developing price/order guides
  • Meeting all company and sales profit objectives
  • Maintain a sound working knowledge of all markets and growing conditions.
  • Make presentations of profitable programs to potential and existing customers.
  • Notify and assist buyers, operations and sales support persons by communication of customer's needs and preferences.
  • Maintain effective, professional relationships with retailers, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Organize and provide assistance for special sales and promotions.
  • Assist in departmental resets and grand openings when called upon.
  • Participate in special projects deemed necessary to the efficient operation of the company.
  • Attend all sales meetings and appointments, (be on time, punctual).
  • Responsible for individual accounts sales and gross profit.
  • Make sure all orders are submitted before scheduled cut off times.
  • Responsible for processing and turning in credit memos, responsibility forms and other job related paperwork within the set time lines.
  • Walk warehouse-checking product daily
  • Responsible for Quality and Food Safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • Knowledge of retail, wholesale and produce industries.
  • Knowledge of market and growing conditions.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of Computer Information Systems preferred: Bosanova/Retalix and Sequel (training provided), and AS 400.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Must able to communicate with all levels of management internally and externally. Willing to make “cold calls” 
  • Intermediate Computer Skills:  proficiency of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, And PowerPoint.
  • Critical Thinking: Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility, with the ability to react quickly to changing requirements from internal and external conditions while maintaining good communication with all parties involved.
  • Ability to work independently and drive results.
