JOB FILLED - Sales Executive-Commodity Group Manager

Job Description: 

The Sales Executive is responsible for working closely with the sales team and Chief Executive Officer to facilitate the sourcing and sales of specified commodities and for generating profitability within the guidelines established by QSI, LLC. The position will have full charge of the sourcing and sales for a group of commodities. The Sales Executive will also be responsible for following established sales procedures and protocol to ensure that customer service orders are complete, accurate and timely.

Under minimal direction from the Chief Executive Officer, the Sales Executive follows established pay practices, develops new business prospects, sources and sells assigned commodities, provides customer service, data entry, written and verbal status updates and ensures sourcing, sales and customer service follow-through.

Requirements: 
  • High School Diploma, Associates and Bachelors Degrees are strongly encouraged
  • 5 years of previous sales experience working with perishable products
  • 3 years of previous supervisory experience, preferably within the produce industry
  • Fluent understanding of Microsoft Windows 2003, MS Office 2003 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have a working knowledge of the transportation industry as it relates to produce

Work Schedule:

Based on a 5X8 day/hour workweek schedule.  Early morning reporting is required. Overtime is required as needed and weekend work is required on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Consistently provide courteous and professional customer service
  • Maintain current customer base while cultivating and developing new accounts, new commodities and new sources
  • Receive and process incoming orders from clientele- usually via telephone
  • Prepare necessary documentation for the purchase and shipment of commodities  
  • Coordinate product delivery with the Logistics Team to ensure timely and cost effective inbound/outbound deliveries
  • Grow the volume of product shipped in an effort to increase company revenue and profits
  • Consistently look for new sales opportunities and generate new ideas to help the sales team increase sales volume
  • Comply with QSI 5-day rule protocol by reviewing and rotating product inventory to ensure minimum product loss and maximize movement of product
  • Review daily pricing, manage all aspects of assigned commodities and provide real time updates from sources to the sales team
  • Coordinate and move commodities between QSI, LLC and customers
  • Support all distribution areas to increase cost savings on storage and transportation
  • Manage assigned sales operating budget and communicate changes in a timely manner
  • Regularly maintain and update information using company database software
  • Exercise practical knowledge and application of Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act
  • Sustain profitability targets through sales and commodity management
  • Manage customers and sales to customers to ensure timely payment of all invoices
  • Ensure all returns, rejections, short pays or other payment discrepancies are handled promptly and correctly

Business Volume Targets:

As a Sales Executive, the company expects the individual to achieve business volume in excess of $4 million annually. This is made up of both procurement and direct selling activities and procurement conducted out of the office at his or her discretion.

Qualifications: 
  • College degree in marketing or business administration, or 5 years of equivalent work experience
  • 5 -8 years of experience with produce and/or FOB Sales
  • Bilingual in English and other large produce market language (Spanish, Chinese, Korean, etc)
