With approximately 90,000 planted acres in California's San Joaquin Valley, Wonderful Orchards is the world's largest grower of almonds, pistachios and pomegranates. Our core focus is on farming, providing us with deep expertise in every aspect of growing these crops, including all cultural aspects, pest control, irrigation technologies and specialized equipment use, all tied together with sophisticated information systems.

Our team is growing, and we are currently looking for a Pest Control Advisor to support almond product in the California Central Valley based in Shafter, CA.

As a Pest Control Advisor you are responsible for supervising pest management programs with a primary focus on our almond product. You are also responsible for identifying pests, weeds and other organisms on our fields, as well as implementing updated practices on a regular basis.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in AG Science, Plant Science or related field preferred and 2+ years’ experience or equivalent combination education and experience.
  • Must have an active Pest Control Advisor (PCA) license and CCA license
  • Self-starter, independent personality, ability to multi-task and manage both short and long term goals.
  • Excellent planning and scheduling abilities
  • Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Work assignment may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Monitor fields for pest problems including but not limited to insects, diseases, weeds, nematodes.
  • Monitoring of plant development, nutrition and weed status.
  • Write pest control recommendations to address pest issues.
  • Release biological control organisms where warranted.
  • Work with management to maximize fruit quality and yield.
  • Other technical tasks as assigned by supervisor.
