Shipping Manager

Job Description: 

Watsonville Produce, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Shipping Manager in Yuma, AZ with travel to Watsonville, CA.

The primary responsibilities of this position is to manage department activities and special projects, and supervise staff in the most efficient way according to company needs and requirements.

Watsonville Produce, Inc. is a family owned and operated business. Dominic Muzzi Sr. began farming in Monterey county in the 1960's. The Muzzi family retired from the farming business, but continued distributing produce. In 1993, the business was expanded to include the growing market for fresh cut/value added produce. 

We also co-pack for a few large-volume customers with a small portion of the total production marketed under our own label “Dominic's”.  With our dedication to Food Safety, our focus is to provide quality packs to the consumer and continue to grow in the industry.

Compensation/Salary:

Requirements: 
  • 2 years’ experience in the shipping and warehousing of wholesale produce.
  • 2 years’ of management experience.
  • Proficient with computers, shipping, receiving, pallet tags, inventories, & BOL's.
  • Requires understanding  of PO#'s and LOT#'s.
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience with maintaining inventory reports and temperature log reports.
  • Ability to communicate with other departments to solve any inventory issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with others across all departments.
  • Effective leadership skills.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Plan and develop procedures to improve quality and efficiency of the department.
  • Assist staff to resolve complex operation issues.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include work assignments, employee training, overtime assignments, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
  • Schedule and conduct staff training and safety meetings.
  • Ensure that employees are trained and understand their job duties.
  • Communicate with other department supervisors and managers.
  • Develop and meet department goals.
  • Negotiate payment terms and prices with outside suppliers for your department, when applicable.
  • Keep the workplace a safe and functional environment.
  • Develop, implement and maintain SOP's.
  • Maintain documents and reports specific to your department as requested by the Company.
  • Promptly deal with personnel issues.
  • Maintain paperwork for your department, as needed (bookkeeping, trackings, mailings, reports, etc).
  • Document work related injuries.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
