Job Description: 

Valpredo Enterprises and Country Sweet Produce are looking for an experienced and talented business professional to manage all accounting and fiscal management aspects of company operations from our farm offices located just south of Bakersfield, CA. 

As our CFO, you will play an instrumental role in our business, assuming responsibility for a variety of challenging projects that will make a positive impact on our ability to serve our customers. This is a high profile role and the individual will work directly with senior management to execute, develop and refine accounting policies and procedures. The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the company.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; provides information to external auditors.
  • Maximizes return and limits risk on cash by minimizing bank balances; makes investments.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collects, analyzes, and consolidates financial data; recommends plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzes variances; initiates corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipates future legislation; enforces adherence to requirements; files financial reports; advises management on needed actions.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; follows up on work results.
  • Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; plans, monitors, and appraises job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviews professional publications; establishes personal networks; participates in professional societies.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CPA preferred
Skills: 
  • Advanced Excel skills are required
  • Report writing experience – Examples, Cognos, Crystal, etc. showing aptitude
  • Famous software experience is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work closely with peers and to teach and motivate others
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience for private industry
  • Agriculture experience
  • Business size experience of at least $50 million
  • Employee Management experience
