Tasteful Selections is a specialty potato company whose mission is to delight the consumer with great tasting, easy to prepare, inspirational products. We are a vertically integrated farming operation which grows, packs and markets our products.

We are seeking a Quality Control Manager near Arvin, CA.

The QC Manager will report directly to the General Manager of Plant Operations and work closely with other members of the team, including the General Manager of Farm Operations, Plant Manager, Plant Supervisors, Shipping Manager, Farm Managers, and corporate management teams.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Control, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or science based field of study
  • Five plus years’ experience in quality control in manufacturing or distribution setting
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based computer programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and a general aptitude with software systems, including statistical analysis software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to train and work with operational personnel on the farms
  • Superior organizational and project management skills
  • Two plus years’ experience leading and managing people in a manufacturing or distribution setting
  • Ability to acquire and hold a valid driver’s license and successfully pass vehicle insurance verification
  • Candidates must be eligible to work unrestricted in the U.S. without company sponsorship to be considered for this position
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write and communicate proficiently in English and interact with all levels of the organization.

Preferred Position Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates who have experience with agriculture, produce or food manufacturing processes

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • The QC Manager’s primary responsibilities are to support the packing operations, including:
    • Monitoring produce quality throughout the packing process
    • Ensuring final product meets grade specifications prior to shipment
    • Developing and implementing standard operating procedures for sampling and quality assurance
    • Serving as a liaison between the sales team and packing team to ensure quality standards are met
    • Working with the Plant Manager to identify areas of efficiency in the packing line and optimizing our systems
  • Provide quality control management and oversight of product inventory in cold storage by:
    • Developing and implementing standard operating procedures for monitoring and sampling of product inventory and for monitoring of the cold storage facility
    • Assisting with maintaining accurate inventory record-keeping
    • Providing regular communication to the management team regarding the quality of the inventory
    • Developing and conducting R&D experiments to provide insight on cold storage attributes of various varieties
  • Develops quality data collection procedures and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine quality standards and expectations.
  • Establishes quality expectations of finished products to increase and sustain product reliability to minimize costs related to poor quality.
  • Identifies quality related training needs and delivers the training as needed to insure quality expectations are met.
  • Provides regular work direction to workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products.
  • Responsible for overseeing and assuring adherence to product specs and attributes. Notifies and gives guidance to employees and management regarding out of spec product and packaging.
  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Writes reports to communicate quality analysis to internal and external stakeholders of the organization.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and sustaining the HACCP program for the company.
  • Provides general support and quality monitoring to farming operations, including but not limited to seed handling and cutting, planter spacing accuracy, test digs to estimate yields, size profiles, minimizing bruising during harvest, variety record-keeping and monitoring.
