Know your produce?  Why not join the industry leader!  Sysco is seeking a  Produce Manager for our facility in Oxnard, California.  The Produce Manager is responsible for oversight of all produce procurement and  pricing and will serve as the point of contact for our customers, sales force, vendors and brokers.  We are seeking individuals experienced in purchasing produce with excellent decision making, negotiation and communications skills. A four year college degree is preferred but not required.   Sysco offers a competitive starting salary and excellent benefits package.

This is a Merchandising position responsible for analyzing the designated category in order to achieve sustainable and profitable sales growth for products sold to customers from that operating company.  This role is also responsible for executing on the category management initiative.  In addition, this position is the point of contact for our customers, market associates vendors and brokers.

Requirements:

  • Ability to understands team dynamics and work well within a team structure. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Oversees procurement and pricing of all produce
  • Responsible for spoilage of Produce
  • Responsible for sales growth to include sales support, customer visits, sales training, weekly specials, customer showcases & business reviews
  • Responsible for profitability management, including profit analysis, logistics review, agreement reviews/approvals, PO Cost Monitor and cash discounts.
  • Provides support for SKU rationalization and support for visibility of excess inventory.  Takes necessary action on disposition of excess inventory.
  • Provides support for vendor/broker relationships.
  • Monitors the process to create/extend new materials.
  • Monitors the process to create/extend new vendors.
  • Manages/oversees the process of special order products.
  • Maintains plant specific merchandising substitution table.
Education: 

Minimum: High School or Equivalent

Minimum Years Experience: 4

Qualifications: 

Education And/Or Experience: 

  • 4 year college degree Preferred but not required.
  • Produce experience highly preferred
  • Experience in purchasing of produce categories a plus
