Position Summary:
Oversee and monitor the quality control of produce. Assure the quality of inbound produce, as well as the produce being delivered to customers on an ongoing basis. Regularly exercise the discretion and independent judgment in performing duties directly related to the general operation of produce quality control. Perform under general supervision and use special training, experience and knowledge to conduct product inspections and ensure product safety, integrity and quality.
 
Sysco New Mexico is located at 601 Comanche Road, NE Albuquerque, NM 87107.  Candidates must be available to work the night shift.

Requirements: 
The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities that an individual must possess to perform the essential functions of this job:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year of produce receiving, selection, or delivery experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of produce, including quality, growing regions, and transportation (shipping and handling of product) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse functions and paperwork flow.
  • Able to communicate and interact with other people and departments.
  • Able to work an evening shift (Sun - Thurs 2PM-11PM)
Certifications and/or Technical Requirements:
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to use a calculator
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
  • Previous experience in the foodservice, or foodservice distribution industry preferred
  • Previous Sysco experience a plus
 Abilities & Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, plan and organize work activities, analyze and disseminate numerical data, manage work time efficiently, and perform moderately complex mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to prepare reports and present ideas clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization both orally and written.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Ability to model and champion organizational values and competencies.

  • Ability to lift 30 - 50 pounds regularly to a level of three feet high. 
  • Work in a cool and wet warehouse environment.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Inspect inbound produce and other perishable products and document condition.
  • Obtain all required paperwork to file claims and assist with claims process.
  • Request all Federal Inspections.
  • Inspect product in the pick slots and document the condition.
  • Designate lots that are to be used by the night crew.
  • Document vendor performance and work with merchandisers to identify opportunities and solutions.
  • Responsible for determining produce repack.
  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse personnel to ensure proper rotation and handling of product.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
