Position Summary:
This is a Merchandising position responsible for inventory management, quality management, PO placement, and providing local market intelligence to SBS planning organization. This role is also responsible for executing on the category management initiative. 

Sysco Indianapolis is located at 4000 West 62nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268.

This is a daytime position with hours subject to change based on business need. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for taking action on forecasting and planning alerts for less complex (i.e., non-market volatile) lines in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for basic replenishment of items assigned to meet service level and inventory inspections.
  • Identifies and orders “fill-in” products as needed.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the SBS planning organization (i.e. local market demand).
  • Helps maintain purchasing master data quality (lead time, order groups, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or at least three years equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong computer skills; specifically in spreadsheet applications (preferable Microsoft Office applications); word processing and proficiency with Excel required.
  • Must have effective communication skills and be able to multi-task and react quickly to an ever changing environment.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in procurement, replenishment, or merchandising preferred; ideally in the foodservice industry.
  • Experience working with automated purchasing systems highly preferred.
  • Produce experience is highly preferred.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
To be successful in this position, the individual performing the duties must successfully demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Understanding of product costing concepts and cost management skills.
  • Aptitude for working in an automated environment with ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

  • Punctuality, flexibility and a sense of urgency.

  • Excellent follow-through.

  • Planning and Organizing: Establishes clear courses of actions for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently. Effectively communicates changes and progress.
  • Information Monitoring: Establishes ongoing procedures to collect and review information needed to manage an organization or ongoing activities within it.
