Super King has a unique opportunity for a Produce Buyer in Los Angeles, Ca. 

The Produce Buyer is responsible for the development and coordination of Super King Market's advertising and promotion to achieve budgeted sales and gross profit.   This person will also, effect changes to inventory and pricing, and negotiate with vendors for price and delivery; prices and monitors the quality of goods and services and promotes all items to maximize turns and profit; assists in the long-term budget process; and conducts all business relationships, both internal and external to the company, with complete integrity.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Responsible for negotiating pricing and securing product from suppliers.
  • Responsible for development and coordination of Super King Markets produce plans and products promotion.
  • Coordinates weekly selection of items for Super King ads and all other promotion programs.
  • Execute effective P.O.’s to supply stores and maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Evaluates all items to be efficient in category management.
  • Visits Produce Market daily to see vendors and product.
  • Continually identify and determine optimum sources of supply.
  • Cultivates market contacts to keep abreast of market trends in the industry.
  • Evaluates all vendors on a consistent basis to be updated on current inventory levels, promotional programs, and sales support.
  • Maintain financial profitability by meeting or exceeding sales and gross margin goals.
  • Identify and communicate promotional pricing, opportunity buys and market trends to management.
  • Suggest and implement ideas that continue to improve the SK offering.
  • Monitor market pricing fluctuations and negotiate price adjustments with suppliers.
  • Maintain awareness of market conditions, trends, and technology and food safety, and effectively communicate same to management.
  • Monitor and report to management on individual vendor performance through regular reviews, especially of key vendors.
  • Support store management staff through effective store visits to observe and respond appropriately to payroll use and employee performance/development. 
  • Constantly promote the practice of suggestive selling, sampling and excellent customer service in all employee interactions. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years buying and merchandising produce products.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of retail grocery business.
