SunSelect is a progressive family operated greenhouse company with locations in British Columbia and California.  We produce some of the best greenhouse grown bell peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers in the world.  As a rapidly growing company we offer excellent career development opportunities.

In 2015, SunSelect completed an extensive, bright and colorful refresh for all packaging and company collateral under the new Outrageously Fresh brand. This included the launch of unique, exclusive packaging and products positioned for the Canadian, US and Asian marketplaces.

We are currently looking for an Export Development Manager – Asia to join our team in Delta, British Columbia.

As the Export Development Manager – Asia, you will be responsible for the development of daily trade to Asia with a focus on key account management in Japan, China and Taiwan. You are also responsible for creating and sustaining customer, distributor and logistics provider relationships to ensure that you meet annual case and trade sales targets.

The ideal candidate will have business and agriculture graduate level education and experience in fresh produce export sales, and will be excited by new challenges. They will be able to work independently and collaboratively performing multiple-level projects in conjunction with daily activities. They will also be organized, labor-efficiency-minded, a team player and have excellent communications skills.

Requirements: 
  • Graduate degree in Agriculture and Business.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience required in the area of fresh/perishables sales.
  • Experience in Asian export markets.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, large volume environment with strong focus on meeting/exceeding measurable metrics.
  • Proven account management skills.
  • Excellent and effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook) and must possess a general ability to adapt to new software.
  • Bilingual in English – Japanese, Cantonese or Mandarin is an asset.
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically as job requires.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Responsible for overall export development program and execution.
  • Identify target customers / markets in the club, retail, convenience, wholesale and food service sectors in Japan, China and Taiwan.
  • Formulate monthly and annual volume and dollar targets by customer/region.
  • Establish on-the-ground distributor support in each market.
  • Coordinate daily/weekly and program pricing communication with key accounts.
  • Negotiate air and sea shipment costs from YVR and LAX with key carriers.
  • Coordinate order/delivery schedules in conjunction with operations and logistics providers.
  • Evaluate special pack requirements by sector and recommend sku sizes that will maximize returns for the export markets.
  • Ensure a sales and marketing standard of excellence in all key business areas including:
    • Timely Communication
    • Detailed Planning
    • Customer Relationship Development
    • Passion for Execution and Follow-up
  • Responsible for tradeshow coordination, set-up and on-site participation with a minimum of 3-4 per events per year.
  • Work closely with sales staff, including SVP Sales and Marketing, to manage packing and distribution requirements and collaborate with operation teams in other locations owned and operated by SunSelect.
  • Manage and foster strong relationships with key external suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and other regulatory programs as it pertains to importing country regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
